We currently have two old dogs at our house - a Pitbull mix and a Pug/Pomeranian mix. Both came from a rescue shelter and are around 12 or 13 years old. They are both skinny and unsteady on their feet. The Pitbull has one eye and seems to be mostly blind in it. The Pug/Pom mix has a tumor in his belly, which was discovered on a recent visit to the vet.
Now we are in the tough stage of a pet's life. As long as they seem happy and comfortable we want to keep them with us as long as possible. On the other hand, we never want them to suffer and wish they could tell us when they've had enough of life. We'll be waiting for a sign, and until then will cherish every moment with our devoted companions.
